The International Day of People with Disability is a United Nations sanctioned day that is celebrated worldwide on December 3 each year.
With a global aim to foster community understanding and recognition of the contributions of those living with a disability, this year’s event carries the theme of “Empowering people with a disability and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.”
Assured Home Care will be celebrating the day by hosting art workshops at our office location in Mile End.
Around 10 client participants will be involved in the workshops, which will be facilitated by talented artist and Assured support worker, Solomon Somakumar.
The workshops have been developed as a pilot program in recognition of the International Day of People with Disability. It is hoped that similar workshops will form a regular part of the support programs offered to our clients.
In addition to the workshops, the 1079 Life FM roadies will be dropping in for a morning tea on site to mark the event, and to collect donations as part of the 15 Can Challenge.
We look forward to sharing with you the events of the day, and to future workshop programs.
